There once was a creative young woman,

who forgot it was okay to be human.

She began to write,

Oh but the fright.

Could she really start bloomin’?

I am amazed that January is almost over.  Three weeks into the new year and I have remained steady posting a new limerick each day.  Yes I am patting myself on the back.   How has your 3 weeks been?  Have you found them productive?  Are you just waiting for spring like most New Englanders?

I have come to realize all of us need a season of rest.  Winter is it for me.   What about you?  I spend much time in the house and it can become dreary.  If I focus on the beauty of being a couch potato with no guilt and just write I relieve myself of that dreaded feeling I SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING.  It was a long time before I understood I needed to change the mindset to I am doing something.  There was always that nagging voice saying , “You are so useless.”  Do you hear it too?

Today let’s  encourage ourselves that despite the torrential rain outside, despite winter still having several weeks to go, despite feeling we have done nothing, we have  accomplished more than we believe.  Just for today do a survey of who we smiled at.  Just for today think of who we served, nicely or not.  Just for today look at the emails, text, FB posts we answered.  Take inventory of how busy we really were.  Then rest.  Rest knowing if there was something we could do better we will work on it.

My theme of doing it now is really about our heart’s desires.  No one can do it for us and only we can do it now.  Reflect on what that means to you.  Reflect on what it means to do it now and rest at the same time.  Do you believe that it is possible?

If you decide to stay the course,

Declare this until you are hoarse.

I’ll do it now!

I’ll do it now!

Your command will be boss.

It once was said that in twenty-one days,

A habit will begin to forms its ways.

Good or bad,

 It’s got you had.

So be sure your good habits don’t run away.

There once were two listening hearts,

Who understood they couldn’t be apart.

The one who led would lead,

The other would concede.

But you couldn’t tell them apart.

Right about now you feel the resistance.

Do we have what it takes for persistence?

I’ll do it now!

I’ll do it now!

It’s okay to ask for some assistance.

There once were written these four little words.

Declare them out loud so they can be heard.

I’ll do it now!

I’ll do it now!

So get up and be a person of your word.

There once was a lovely young girl,

Discouragement turned her into a churl.

She heard four words,

Four words she heard.

Those words spun her into a whirl.

There once was a man who started to speak.

He always prepared each day of the week.

I’ll do it today!

I’ll do it I say!

That’s how he got on a winning streak.

There once was a lively young man who said,

“How long should I let this fear be a dread?”

Up with a great shout!

From the bed he got out.

The time to live is now and not be dead.

There once was a lively young man who said,

“it’s time to lead and not be led.”

So he opened his mouth,

then it went south.

Now he looks east before he gets out of bed.
